Frequently Asked Questions
Can I buy an already finished picture?
Yes. We will post a priced catalogue HERE, but our inventory will always be small.
How much do paintings cost?
Using an industry standard, we calculate price by the square inch and, given the prices of the materials, we settled on $2.25 per square inch for our mixed media.
10 X 16 painting = $360.00
This price does not apply to practice and paper and experimental pictures (priced lower), or to original works (priced higher), or to reproductions (priced higher).
How long does it take to get my picture?
A long time - three months or maybe more. After you give us image guidelines (for example, "a yellow butterfly, 24 inches by 20), and after you approve a "basic image," we order a print. The print may take weeks to arrive. The painting process, accomplished in several layers, may take a month or two or even longer.
We allow at least thirty days of final drying before spraying a fixer.
Will the finished painting be exactly the same as the "basic image' I approved?
No.
You will get the basic composition (the subject matter will not change), and Yes, we will match specific colors if necessary (to match your drapes for example), but the image will change when painted over.
Can I make suggestions to improve the "basic image?"
Yes.
You can interact with our artist before painting begins.
Will you paint a picture I send you?
Yes, but our artist will interpret it his own way, sharpen aspects, blur where he wants, edit content, alter contrast levels, perhaps choose different colors, and make other changes.
Can I reject a painting after it is finished and delivered to me?
Yes. We guarantee satisfaction.
We will rotate the rejected painting into our available catalogue.
We are happy to take back a painting with no expense to you other than shipping (to you and back), with the proviso that it was not painted from a photograph you provided that makes the painting unsellable to others, i.e., it includes a portrait of your grandchild, car, or boat, etc.
What can you tell me about the quality of the frame, canvas, and paints?
CanvasPop prints and frames the basic image. We choose to work with them because we believe they are the best.
For custom framing we hire and or recommend an expert in Stuart, Florida.
The paints are high quality acrylics and oils.
How do I begin?
Send us an email. It can be simple: "I want a 16 inch study of a solitary egret," or "something with palms and sky," or "a shore bird."
How do I pay?
We can work that out. A check after painting delivery is fine. We also have a PayPal account.
Will I get documentation?
Sure. We can include a handwritten letter from the artist acknowledging the order, the work, and the sale.
Paintings are signed on the back.
